DO I NEED A LACTATION CONSULTANT?
Having a new baby is an exciting and sometimes scary transition. In today’s society so many families are spread across the country and even the world. Many new mothers do not have much support or encouragement when it comes to breastfeeding because their loved ones are so far away. For many new moms they don’t know what is normal or when they should seek help from an IBCLC. Some of the most common reasons families schedule an appointment with me are:
- Your nipples are sore and/or damaged.
- Your infants latch is painful or you are just struggling to get a good latch.
- You are concerned about not having enough milk or having too much milk (over or under supply).
- You want to know how much and how often a baby should be fed.
- Your baby is not gaining weight.
- The pediatrician says you should supplement with formula
- You have concerns about how your baby is acting during feedings.
- You want to know how much your baby is getting at each feeding
- You would like to learn more about what is normal.
- You have seen a lactation consultant, pediatrician, or other provider and were told “the latch looks good” but your still having pain or other complications when breastfeeding.
